Shaolin Gong Fu:

We use a simple and time tested building block approach in our teaching. Repetition, repetition, repetition over time spent working hard. This is the only way to get results. There is no instant gratification in our school. You are expected to work hard at what you expect us to teach you properly.

Novice Level:

  • 18 basic movements covering stances, blocks and counter punching, kicks, jumps, sweeps. Gong Fu Quan is a unified form used by the federation as an overview and introduction to bare hand forms. It spans skills from the novice through advanced levels to allow the student to get a complete feel of Shaolin early on. This form grows with you as your skills will improve over time.

Levels 1 & 2:

  • Elementary traditional forms & basic work with common kung fu weapons.

Levels 3 & 4:

  • Intermediate level training involving longer more complex forms as well as short and long range weapons. Training in animal drills begins at these levels.

Levels 5 & 6:

  • Higher level forms and specialty in weapons and animals is chosen for the student by the Master depending on the student's characteristics and ability. The ability to use your kung fu for all real life combat situations is expected at these levels. Fight experience in competitions is a must for those who wish to go on to be coaches or teachers.

Level 7:

  • Level 7 is the Shifu or Master rank. At this stage the person is expected to carry out the responsibilities bestowed upon him by the federation leaders. This may include certifying instructors, leading teams into competitions and training camps, helping with the organization of federation related projects, basically to represent the federation and Chan Quan to the best of one's ability. The most important task here is to lead by example, remain humble, and carry forth the teachings.

Shaolin Sanda/Sanshou:

Our school's program emphasizes on safety while learning how to fight in a controlled environment. This is why there is a list of equipment recommended by the teacher.

The program includes:

  • Isolated punching and kicking techniques
  • Learning combinations
  • Circling and platform awareness
  • Target hitting
  • Working with the heavy bag
  • Chinese wrestling skills
  • Takedowns and takedown defence
  • Incorporating Shaolin Kung Fu skills
  • Core training & conditioning
  • Cardiovascular
  • Light and Full contact sparring
  • Hitting and being hit back!!!

The coaching team is composed of experienced champions at all levels be it provincial, national, or even international. We also have professional fighters that compete in China and Thailand train with us. How can you get a better quality teaching anywhere else? You can't!

Come try and you'll be convinced for yourself.

Shaolin Qi Gong:

As a compliment to the Shaolin training, we usually leave time near the end of the training sessions for Qi Gong. Shaolin Qi Gongs main focus is on the Ba Duan Jin (8 Section Brocade: see details in the Building Foundation section) and also on Shaolin Yi Jin Jing (Channel changing Scripture). The latter is one of the earliest exercises practiced by Shaolin Buddhist Monks.

Shaolin for Kids:

The next kids program will begin in January 2012 by popular demand. Children as young as 4 years old can begin their tumbling and cudgeling skill practice. The program is recreational covering the basics of Shaolin and also blending in acrobatics and flex stretching and kicking.

It is beneficial to begin training in these formative years as learning a good martial art can improve a childs focus and discipline which is key for setting the right path when beginning grade school.
